Scalp Micropigmentation
What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation also known as SMP is an extremely intricate procedure which is detailed with micro-needles (sometimes called nano needles) to deposit pigment into the scalp, to mimic the appearance of real hair follicles that have just been shaved. It works by making thinning hair, even long hair look fuller, or creating the illusion of a full head of hair with a buzz cut, on a fully or partially bald head. SMP is classed as a semi permanent procedure however it may start to slightly fade between 4-6 years, due to skin naturally exfoliating itself. Clients can return if they wish for a quick touch up. This cosmetic solution will not wash off but can be tweaked as years go on.
What does SMP do?
• Recreates hairlines. • Hide areas where your scalp is visible, creating the appearance of fuller hair. • It’s appropriate for all skin tones and hair colours, even grey. • A scalp micropigmentation procedure works well in combination with other hair loss solutions, like FUE hair transplant surgery, according to multiple doctors. • Camouflage scars • Cheapest hair solution on the market and only one with instant results. • Does not require invasive surgery. • Because scalp micropigmentation is a kind of tattoo, it’s considered permanent. • If you do not like your results, you can have the pigmentation corrected or removed with a laser treatment.
Who is suitable for SMP?
Scalp micropigmentation is suitable for all stages of hair-loss, ages, colour and skin type. Some examples of clients most suitable for SMP Hair line receding: men who have started receding regardless of age and never really agree on which is most of a nuisance receding or crown bolding, which is why SMP is a great choice as it is perfect for camouflaging the effective areas creating a strong hair line and giving the appearance of a more density. Crown balding; crown balding is one of the most common types of hair thinning and balding. Usually resulting in the person suffering appearing older and often results in lack of confidence and low self-esteem.
If I have hair left, can I leave it long?
Depending upon the pattern and the extent of the thinning areas, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. SMP can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is visible. However, if there is a strong pattern of hair loss or just not a lot of hair density left, the client is recommended to keep their hair short to get the best results.
How long does SMP take?
Scalp micropigmentation varies from client to client typically taking anything from 1hr30 – 4hrs, Which is why I offer a free consultation to anyone considering the procedure as each procedure is tailored to the individual. Scalp micropigmentation typically takes 3-4 sessions to complete as it works on a layering process giving it a 3D effect to give the most natural results. Sessions cannot be completed any less than 7 day apart.
Does Scalp micropigmentation hurt?
Much like getting a tattoo causes varying levels of pain for different people based on their pain tolerance, Scalp Micropigmentation does not necessarily hurt. If you have a low pain tolerance, you may experience slight discomfort from the procedure.
How long will the treatment take?
Treatments will take roughly 3-4 hours for the first session, then around 2-3 hours for the sec-ond session. Some clients may request or require a third session to complete their treatment, and session time is around 1 – 2.5 hours, depending on the amount of work needing to be done.
